Our History

Since its establishment in 1977,the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God has grown rapidly.Originally holding prayer meetings in a small gazebo,the Universal Church now conducts services in impressive cathedrals,which are attended by thousands of people.
The Universal Church has proved to be a blessing from God to millions of People around the world.
It all started in 1977,when a determined young man,Envangelist Edir Macedo,started his first meetings called the "Crusade of the Eternal Way" under a small gazebo in jardim do Meier,a suburb north of Rio de Janeiro.

Using only an old speaker and a small keyboard,Edir Macedo preached outdoors to a small group of people
every saturdy morning.Although he faced many obstacles, Edir Macedo always believed in his calling to spread the gospel,not only thoughtout Brazil,but also in other countries ad continents around the world.
More and more people took part in the meetings of faith.Soon a bigger space was needed,so meetings were held in an old cinema hall called Bruni Meier.
From there the meetings moved to Ridan,located in the suburb of Pledade,north of Rio.Eventually the meetings moved to a small warehouse in Abolicao,which was previously a funeral parlour.
